Day 6 of "Wear a Shawl Challenge": Here Comes the Sun.

Very busy and rainy day on Saturday and no time or opportunity for picture taking for my "Wear a Shawl Challenge" even that I did wear two of my shawls :-))
For Day 6 of my "Wear a Shawl Challenge" I chose the very first  shawl I have designed "Here Comes the Sun".
The shawl pattern is available on Ravelry and on my blog.

В субботу целый день шёл дождь и день был очень занятым для меня. Совсем не было времени фотографироваться для моего проекта с шалями несмотря на то что я носила 2 шали в тот день ;))
Для Дня 6 "Wear a Shawl Challenge" я выбрала самую первую шаль которую я дезайн: "Here Comes the Sun". Инструкции доступны на моём блоге или на Ravelry.

I love this shawl. Great warm color and semicircular shape make it a great accessory for any time of year. It can be dressed down or dressed up. I love to just wrap it around to show it's shape and a lovely lace pattern.
It has been a very nice and warm Fall day today and it was great to wear this shawl for an early breakfast and the cafe :-))

To see the original photographs I have taken of this shawl go to my Ravelry project page or Blog.

Оригинальные снимки этой шали и больше про этот проект можно посмотреть на  Ravelry и на моём блоге.

Happy Knitting,
Diana

ARCTIC SUN SHAWL.

"Arctic Sun" shawl is based on my pattern "Here Comes the Sun". This time I used Kauni yarn. This is my first time working with this yarn. It is rustic and not very soft, but I found it quite easy on the hands while knitting. I was hoping that after washing it will soften greatly and it did soften, but just a little. I prefer the yarn to be a little softer then Kauni when it is for something that will be on one's neck or open arms. The color changes in this yarn are amazing of course. I love the shawl, but I think I will gift it to somebody with less sensitive skin :-))
Project on Ravelry can be found here.

I have been knitting....a little :-)))

I had my college friend visiting for couple of weeks, so I  have been busy and knitting only a little bit.
Two projects I am working on is "Arctic Sun" shawl based on my pattern "Here Comes the Sun". This time I decided to use Kauni yarn. This is my first time working with this yarn. It is rustic and not very soft, but I found it quite easy on the hands nonetheless. The color changes are amazing and it is hard to stop knitting, since I want to see what color will unravel next.

Another project I am working on is "Purple Dandelion". It is a top from the Vogue Spring/Summer 2011 Model 29/Chevron lace Top.

Over the last few months I have received some knitting journals and have been thinking about the patterns I liked and the yarn I might use for them.

It is already quite warm in Southern California and I really want to knit with cotton :-)) Here are some models that I liked from the latest issues of Verena, Filati and Rebecca. It is more about the patterns and ideas for me, so the final project might not look exactly as in the journal. The sweater may become a cardigan for example ;-)) Of course, I will not knit everything on my wish list (I also love a lot of patterns that come out recently on Ravelry and models from the older magazines) ;-)), but it is good to have some ideas :-) I also have a new idea  for a shawl. More about it in another post :-))

Here Comes the Sun

I am very exited about my very first pattern design on Ravelry. This is also my first shawl design. “HERE COMES THE SUN” is a seamless shawl knitted top-down from the central neck stitches to the edge. The shawl is shaped as a semi-circle. The sample shawl in the photographs was knitted with 7 repeats of the pattern and after blocking was 142 cm (56 inches) for the straight edge on the top of the shawl and 60 cm (23.5inches) for the height of the shawl at the center. You can easily make it bigger or smaller by adding or taking away pattern repeats.
I used Madelinetosh tosh merino light (100% Merino, fingering 4-ply) in colorway Caravan. 1.4 skeins = 616.0 yards (563.3m) was used for the sample shawl.

The project page can be found here
The pattern is available for download on RAVELRY
